The Kia Naimo EV gets revealed in Seoul
This week sees the start of the Seoul Motor Show. Which may not be at the top of our list of must-see shows, but with Kia and Hyundai taking over the world we do need to at least sit up and take notice. Today is press day at Seoul and Kia has rocked up with a funky electric CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) – the Kia Naimo – powered by a pair of 27kWh lithium-ion polymer batteries in the boot which power an electric motor that’s good for 108bhp and 207lb/ft of torque.
Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde World Record Balloon Bursting
The Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde has broken the world record for bursting balloons filled with water in a car – 2,738 balloons. There was a time, when Guinness World Records were new and fascinating, that there was a world record for every daft idea you could think of. And there still is (even though most are bored by pointless world records now), and one of them is now held by the Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde.
Quite a few older European cars are purchased in rust-free parts of the United States and then shipped back to the home continent, and this process tends to intensify when the Euro gets stronger versus the dollar. While that's going on, crews of European gearheads also roam the wrecking yards of the Southwest, filling shipping containers with parts to ship back home; I know of a trio of Swedes who come to Colorado every year and ship home tons of parts, but they've got nothing on this pair of Germans. These gentlemen fly to the United States four times each year, spending two or three weeks each trip, and send home cars and shipping containers packed with parts, all as part of a scheme to open up a car collection showcasing "cars from the road." They were kind enough to send me a bunch of photos of their most recent trip, so let's see what their enviable lifestyle looks like.
